Privacy Notice
Last updated: 2 July 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how Stellym (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our journaling and personal development mobile application (the “App”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who We Are (Data Controller)
Stellym is operated by Still & Sky Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.
- Contact email: contact@stellym.com
- Registered address: 3rd Floor, 45 Albemarle Street, London, United Kingdom, W1S 4JL
- Company number: 15435249
Personal Data We Collect
We only collect the data necessary to provide and improve the App.
Data You Provide
- Journal entries, reflections, goals, and notes (text, images, audio, or video)
- Account information such as your email address (if enabled)
- Communications you send to us (e.g. support requests or feedback)
Data Collected Automatically
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Usage data (anonymised or pseudonymised where possible)
- Crash reports and performance diagnostics
Location Data
By default, we collect only your approximate location (e.g. town level), typically derived from your device or IP address. You may choose to enable precise location (GPS). Location data is collected only with your consent, can be changed or withdrawn at any time, and is used solely to improve your experience.
Special Category Data
Your journal content may include special category personal data — for example, information about mental health, emotions, or personal beliefs. We process this data only at your request and for your personal use, based on your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR).
We do not use this data for advertising or marketing.
The App does not provide medical or therapeutic advice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or manage any condition.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide journaling and personal development features
- Store and sync content across devices (if enabled)
- Maintain security and prevent misuse
- Improve performance and reliability
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
AI Features and Processing
AI has a focused role in Stellym, and only ever when you choose to use it.
What AI does
When you use AI-powered features, your journal content is shared with a third-party AI provider to generate responses, surface patterns, or support your reflections. The AI works with what you have written, not your name, email address, or identity.
Your control
AI features are opt-in. You decide when to use them, and you can turn them off at any time in your settings. When you disable an AI feature, processing stops and any patterns linked to your journal entries are deleted.
AI model training
Some AI providers may use inputs to improve their models by default. Where this is the case, we seek contractual protections to limit or prevent your data being used for training purposes. However, we cannot guarantee this across all providers or future integrations.
You can review and update your AI preferences, including consent to AI processing, at any time in the App settings. If you have concerns about how a specific provider handles your data, contact us at contact@stellym.com.
Our commitment
Your identity is never shared with AI providers. We select providers who meet our data protection standards and require contractual commitments under UK and EU data protection law. We do not use your data for advertising.
Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal data under the following lawful bases:
- Contractual necessity — to provide the App
- Consent — for optional features, special category data (Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR and EU GDPR), and AI processing features
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the App, where these interests are not overridden by your rights
- Legal obligation — where required by law
You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent for AI processing features stops future processing and deletes any patterns linked to your journal entries.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data with:
- Service providers (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics, infrastructure, crash reporting, and AI providers)
- Authorities or regulators where required by law
All providers act as data processors and are required to protect your data.
International Data Transfers
Some service providers may be located outside the UK or EEA (including the United States). Where this occurs, we use appropriate safeguards such as:
- Adequacy decisions
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- Equivalent protections
Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary:
- Account data — until account deletion
- Journal content — until you delete it
- Analytics data — up to 12 months to help us improve the App
- Support communications — up to 24 months
You can delete your data at any time via the App or by contacting us. Some data may be retained where legally required.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccuracies
- Request deletion
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent
To exercise your rights, contact contact@stellym.com. We may need to verify your identity. You can also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk or your local EU authority.
Children and Young Users
The App is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we identify that a child under 16 has created an account, we will delete the data promptly.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including:
- Encryption in transit and, where appropriate, at rest
- Access controls and secure infrastructure
No system is completely secure, but we continuously improve our protections.
Third-Party Links
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services linked from the App or website.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or website.
